Why are you no longer carring crickets in your Mahtomedi location?

Question

We understand that your Mahtomedi store will no longer be carring  crickets. Is there anything that can be done to have you please continue carrying crickets?  Reason I’ve checked around and find there to be limited places that carry crickets, many such as Petco have either too large or too small, going to Stillwater or St Paul really is not what I’d like to have to do and if I’m going to another pet store to buy crickets I might as well buy my dog supplies there as well..If you can continue to offer crickets I’d greatly appreciate it.  Plus I sometimes find your store manager at Mahtomedi not the nicest as when I asked about the crickets she really was not very nice about it, I made the decision to not continue to carry crickets so there… told me where else to go without any consideration of a customer’s request.  Just could have been nicer about it I thought.  But I really do think if I’m traveling to get crickets I might as well get the rest of my pet supplies there as well.

Answer

Hi Mike,

Thank you for writing. I sent your note to the District Manager – John Imholte-for a response as he is a major player in this very difficult decision regarding our Mahtomedi location.

Sincerely,

Hi Mike,

The choice to not carry crickets was not an easy one to make. We want to make our customers happy and at the same time we need to make sure we are able to keep the inventory in the store so we do not aggravate our customers. To give you an example, we had a shipment of crickets delivered to the store and they were all deceased. This put us in a difficult and unacceptable position with our customers.
When we offer a product our customers depend on they expect it to be in stock. This has happened more and more frequently and the problem increases as we move into the winter months. The second factor to consider is the cost of shipping has increased over the past few years and our prices have stayed the same. In order to break even we would have to increase our price substantially and we are sensitive to how our customers would react.

Thank you for writing,

Does Chuck & Don's sell live crickets and mealworms?

Question

Do you guys sell live crickets and mealworms? Also do you have any advice on breeding and harvesting them? If so do you have that kind of supplies in store?

Answer

Hi,

Thank you for writing. Yes, we sell crickets in the small size and the medium/large size; we also sell mealworms in a 50 count and 100 count packages. Each of our locations carries a slightly different variety of products and some do not carry the live food such as crickets and mealworms. Call or visit your local Chuck & Don’s for pricing and availability.

Finally, there is a good website called “Raise your Own Crickets: which gives you complete instructions on containers and the entire process.  Good luck.

Do you carry crickets for lizards?

Question

My children are considering getting a Chameleon, we were wondering how much crickets cost?

Answer

Hi Tom,

We sell crickets individually and also offer a frequent feeder club; if you buy 10 dozen you get the 11th dozen free. Stores typically carry medium size crickets–however some also carry smaller and larger sizes of crickets.  Call or visit your local Chuck and Don’s for pricing and availability.

Finally, we are in need of some reptile photos for our Best of Show page – we have a lonely Green Iguana named Dulap that would love to be joined by a photo of your new Chameleon!
