  1. Do you carry locally produced dog foods like Nutrisource?

    Question

We are getting a new springer spaniel puppy in January. Our springer was 12 when she passed and we always fed her Presise Dog food. We heard about another locally made dog food that’s even better. Can you tell me what it’s called and why this food would be better.

    Answer

We are happy to hear about your new puppy that you will be getting in January, how exciting. There are a couple of different brands of food that are locally made and one of them is Nutrisource. Nutrisource is made in Perham, MN and is a great food that has a variety of formulas. They do have two puppy formulas: the small/medium breed and the large breed puppy.

As far as Nutrisource being better – it is a matter of what works best for your dog. The best way to do that is to try the food out. We have a great return policy here at Chuck & Don’s so you can try foods out worry free – if the bag is in the original packaging, over half full and purchased within th

  3. GMO-free and organic pet food options?

    Question

Our household is going GMO-free and I’m wondering what dog and cat food options you have that are either certified GMO-free or organic?

    Answer

Chuck & Don’s has a number of options to choose from for foods that are GMO-free and/or organic. There are a few different routes you could choose to go. The first is with dry foods. The brands that offer varieties with this option are Wellness, Canine Caviar, Great Life, Natural Planet, Natural Balance Organic Blend, and/or Orijen/Acana. Another option to try is freeze dried or frozen raw food. For freeze dried your options are either Sojos or Honest Kitchen. These brands have an almost oatmeal consistency. They come either with meat already mix in, or there is the option of adding raw meat to them. For a raw option you could go with Nature’s Variety frozen raw food or Primal Raw. These brands come in many diffe

  5. What should I do when my Innova dog food is discontinued?

    Question

Innova has discontinued the red meat large bites dry dog food. It’s the only thing my dog can eat due to food allergies. Do you have any still in stock anywhere so that I could get by until I can talk with my vet?

    Answer

    Hi Kathleen,

The Innova Red Meat large bites is no longer available. Innova also makes a line called Evo that you could possibly try as a substitute for the discontinued food. They have a red meat large bite kibble that is just higher in protein. The Evo Red Meat Large Bites is one you could talk to your vet about. Call or visit your local Chuck and Don’s for availability and pricing.

  6. Why don’t you offer a frequent feeder program on all foods?

    Question

We buy Taste of the Wild dog food. A number of other dog foods you carry are on a program where you by so many and you get one free. Why is this not available for the Taste of the Wild?

    Answer

Our frequent buyer program is an optional program that each manufacturer has the option of joining. The free bags are actually a manufacturer coupon, so some manufacturers decide not to participate for a variety of reasons.

Taste of the Wild offers an everyday great price and is still the most economical option for grain free. While we wish all of our brands would participate, we don’t control that. You do still earn a percentage back on your Taste of the Wild purchases on your quarterly rebate and sometimes they do have coupons in the Bark’n’Mews. If you are interested in switching to a brand that does participate, just stop into your local Chuck & Don’s and we would be happy to show you
